Advisory Board

Michelle Clothier

Co-founder, Livity / LIVE Futures / Dubplate Ltd.

Portrait of Michelle Clothier

In May 2001 Michelle launched Livity, a youth marketing agency on a mission to deliver social benefit through its campaigns, with her business partner Sam Conniff. 8 years on and the ground breaking and award-winning work of Livity has benefited the likes of Sony PlayStation, Teenage Cancer Trust, Penguin, O2, BBC, Red Bull, Department for Children, Schools and Families, BERR, NSPCC/ChildLine, Department for International Development, and the NHS as well as the thousands of young people its campaigns are aimed at. Livity is proving that you can deliver both social and business benefits through marketing and communication campaigns.

One of Livity’s early projects led to the formation of LIVE Futures, a
non-profit vocational programme for young people providing training and work experience through a range of multi-media projects. Live Futures is backed by local and central government and also works with brands and partners ranging from MTV, The Guardian, BBC, The Dazed Group, Nike and 02 to provide co-created youth content and insight.

Then there’s the TV show, Michelle is joint Executive Producer with Sam on Dubplate Drama, a trailblazing multi-platform, interactive drama series. Written and directed by Luke Hyams and produced by Louis Figgis, Dubplate Drama is broadcast on Channel 4, MTV, all UK mobile networks, online and in cinemas. Viewers vote on how the storyline continues episode-by-episode, stimulating discussion and debate around difficult to talk about issues. Series three will broadcast in June 2009. Dubplate Ltd is the production company and Dubplate Drama is represented by IMG and is being re-formatted worldwide.

Other accomplishments include winning Business Woman of the Year at the 2008 Lambeth Business Awards, being a member of the advisory board for the MSc in Strategic Marketing at Cranfield University, recently becoming a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts, Manufacturing and Commerce, and to have helped create Music4Good (an apprenticeship initiative that spans the music industry).
